When Words Fall Short—Letting the Body Speak Through Somatic Therapy
Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, words just don't reach the places that hurt the most. We can talk about our experiences endlessly, analyze our past, and still feel stuck in patterns we can’t quite name. That’s where somatic therapy comes in.
Listening to the Body
Somatic therapy invites us to tune in to the language of the body—the tension in your jaw, the tightness in your chest, the way your breath shortens when a certain topic comes up. These aren’t just physical sensations. They’re messengers, carrying emotional truths that might not yet have words.
In our work together, we slow down. We create space to notice what your body is holding. That could mean gently bringing awareness to an area of discomfort or following a small impulse to stretch, shake, or breathe differently. It's a way of allowing your nervous system to guide the process, rather than trying to force insight from the neck up.
When Talk Therapy Isn’t Enough
Traditional talk therapy can be incredibly helpful—and yet, for some people, it only goes so far. If you've ever said, "I understand why I feel this way, but I still feel stuck," you're not alone. The body often holds trauma and emotional pain in ways that logic can’t untangle.
Somatic therapy offers a different entry point. We work with the body’s felt sense, using awareness and movement to help release what’s been frozen or held in. It’s a gentle but profound way to access the deeper layers of healing that don’t always show up in conversation.
A Safe Place to Explore
Creating safety is essential. You won’t be asked to do anything that feels overwhelming or confusing. We move at your pace, building trust with your body one step at a time. Over time, many people find they can feel more grounded, more present, and more at home in themselves.
Integrating Somatic Work with Ketamine Therapy
In my practice, I often weave somatic therapy into ketamine-assisted sessions. The lozenge format allows you to stay embodied and aware, which makes it an ideal match for somatic work. Together, we use the altered state to gently explore body-based sensations, release stuck energy, and deepen the connection between mind and body.
Let the Body Speak
If you’ve been in therapy before and felt like something was missing—like the words weren’t quite enough—it might be time to let your body have a say. Somatic therapy isn’t about fixing or forcing anything. It’s about listening. With curiosity. With compassion. And with the belief that your body knows more than it’s had a chance to express.
